Jon T. Haugen candidate for Washington State Senate:
I'm not a politician.  I'm a 1981 Graduate of the US Naval Academy (top
one-third, higher than John McCain in his Naval Academy Class!)
.  I spent 24
years in the U.S. Military.  I am a Captain flying for Delta Air Lines.  I volunteer as
the PTA Legislative Chair for Clark and Cowlitz County.  My wife is a Registered
Nurse at Legacy Salmon Creek.  We have three children, Jessica a graduate of
Western Washington University, Ben at WSU-Pullman and Allison at Skyview in
the Vancouver School district.  My parents were both teachers.

Reduce Property Taxes:
Require the State pay the 17% of education currently
supported by Property Taxes, reducing Property Taxes
Education:
Abolish WASL
3% loan for Washington High School graduates for college or trade school.
Simple Majority for Bonds.

This is a great country.  We have not reached our potential.  Please compare the
candidates:  not just who is honest, not just who served this country with
distinction, not just who is volunteers with PTA, not only who has new ideas and
who is honest.  But please compare all these qualities.
The incumbent has spent
13 long years in Olympia.  In that time the number of
drop outs have doubled, the number of prisoners have doubled.  Education has
seen a spending decline.  These are all awful trends.
I am proud to be have worked on the campaign of Patty Murray.  I am a
Democrat because of the inclusiveness of this party.  The Democrats best
represent the words of the Declaration of Independence "We hold these truths to
be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their
Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the
pursuit of Happiness"

I'm Jon Haugen and I'm running for Washington State Senator in the 18th
Legislative District.  I humbly ask for your vote.   Thank you.
Washington State has 49 Legislative Districts.  The 18th Legislative District
includes:  Cowlitz County east of Interstate 5 including Woodland, Kalama,
part of Kelso, part of Castle Rock and Toutle;  northern Clark County
including Felida, Ridgefield, Woodland, La Center, Yacolt, Battleground,
Hockinson, Camas and Washougal.  Each district has one Senator and two
Representatives.  The Senate seat term is four years and each Representative
two years.  The Legislature meets in Olympia for 105 days in odd numbered
years and 60 days in even numbered years.  Sessions start in January.  Pay is  
$41,280 per year.  Make sure you are getting your money's worth.
